How to Brew Your Drip Coffee
90 seconds to perfect coffee. No machines. No drama.
What You'll Need
Must have:
- Your drip bag
- A tall mug (250ml+)
- Hot water
Nice to have:
- Kitchen scale (but we got you covered)
Let's Brew, Bro!
Step 1: Set Up
Grab a tall mug - the taller the better. Short espresso cups won't work here. Open your drip packet and tear along the dotted line. Pull out those paper "wings" and hook them over your mug edges. Your drip should sit nicely on top, not drowning in the cup.
Step 2: Water Talk
Temperature: Just off the boil (93-95°C). Boiled your kettle? Count to 60. Perfect. How much:
- Dark roast = 150ml (about half your mug)
- Light roast = 190ml (bit more than half)
Pro tip: Too much water = weak coffee. Nobody wants that.
Step 3: The Pour
Here's where the magic happens: Pour water slowly in the center, in 3-4 rounds:
- First pour - wet all the coffee
- Let it drip through
- Pour again when you see the coffee bed
- Repeat until you hit your water amount
No fancy kettle needed. Your regular one works fine.
Step 4: Wait for It
Total brew time: 2-2.5 minutes Don't stir. Don't rush. Just let gravity do its thing.
Step 5: Enjoy
Once it's done dripping, toss the used bag (it's compostable!). Let it cool for a moment - best flavors come out when it's not scorching hot.
Quick Tips from Your Bro
Water matters: If your tap water tastes weird, your coffee will too. Use filtered or bottled.
Timing: Under 2 minutes = sour. Over 3 minutes = bitter. Aim for that sweet spot.
In a rush? You can pour all water at once, but the flavor won't be as good. Your call.
Milk? Sure, but try it black first. You might surprise yourself.
